Election map: Race for a single assessor

By Brian D

assessor100206In the race to elect a single assessor for the first time in New Orleans history, reform candidate Janis Lemle came up short.

Withstanding a political smear campaign, Lemle retained strong support in the 6th District.

Despite some notable exceptions in the French Quarter, CBD and Mid-City, where Lemle gained support, Claude Mauberret and Erroll Williams generally built upon the base of support in the districts they represent, the 2nd and 3rd, respectively. Mauberret acquired significant numbers in Lakeview and the lower Carrollton/Riverbend neighborhoods. Williams began with a vast number of precincts in his district, and gained additional support on the West Bank and the upper Carrollton neighborhoods.
